...Sample based libraries for solo instruments are in our opinion basically obsolete...

Giorgio,

I came to the same conclusion, emphasizing SOLO
instruments, when I heard and then played Mr T.

It is still my favorite!

I've developed some classic accordions using Kontakt 4
(via of their AET) and a BC3a Breath Controller
that sound very good but that's a different animal.

Boy, I have to echo Giorgio's comments about sampled instruments being obsolete for solo work. Now that I've buttered you guys up, get working on those strings!

Thanks,
Pat

Hello !! It's just amazing !!
I read your post Gorgio, as you tell the new engine is more CPU demanding. I use actually an ASUS Quad core 2Ghz to play my sax brother. Did your message meaning that those who will play with this new engine will need to have a "Monster" as PC ?
I use your sax brothers as single in my band, but with a EWI USB. Will it be optimized for those like me, who use this kind of wind controller.
A least, i think you've probably answer this question, but if this new engine produce such a stunning sound, did it mean that the other "old" brother who run on kontakt player will also run on this new engine ?
Thanks a lot for your answer and a happy new year 2011 for all the SM crew !!! Bravo !!

Hi zenasium,

you don´t need to worry at all - no "monster PC" will be needed! :-)
Although the new platform is in an early beta testing and we cannot say anything detailed about the exact CPU load, it will be certainly more or less similar. For example - compared to Kontakt - it might be slightly more demanding on bigger, newer systems, but very similar on older ones. But, as mentioned, we still need some more time to say more.
And - of course, this instrument will be also great to be played with a wind controller like your EWI! :-)
