No. Much more is needed to obviate the phasing effects.

Please consider our Kontakt-based unison ensemble multi.

Thank you! I don't see it listed. Where can I find it?

What I mean is that all our Kontakt-based instruments, namely Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn & Tuba, are supplied with a patch (unison ensemble), including a sophisticated ensemble maker. All the instruments are subtly different in timbre, pitch, response to transients, timing etc.

Hi everybody,

after many requests, we have published a FAQ on our SWAM knowledgebase to help people in creating String sections:

http://www.swamengine.com/support/kb/faq.php?id=37

We are working on the next update to let the instruments sound even better in both solo and section scenarios.

Best!

Thank you, for this! :)
I will go even further, and play each track, instead of copying. More work, but it will produce the desired effect.

The example provided there sounds very good to me. no unnatural "phasing", but very tight nonetheless.

BTW.: when using Reaper you can use the "subproject" feature to pre-render a dedicated set of tracks and with that avoid CPU overload when listening to the project while working on other tracks.
